Travelling around Colombo
Uber and Lyft are operational in Colombo only and are recommended as an easy and safe way to travel around the city.
For a cost effective and more authentic way of getting from point A to point B please select the Uber Tuk option. Uber also allows you to pay via card or cash in Colombo. If you choose to travel by Uber Tuk please be aware that Tuk Tuk drivers prefer for you to pay by cash.
So, what is a Tuk Tuk?
Also known as an auto-rickshaw or three-wheeler, these are three-wheeled, roofed but open-sided vehicles. They are also the most popular mode of transport in Sri Lanka.
Compact, light and a speedy a tuk is the perfect way to manoeuvring through the Colombo traffic.
However, we would like to issue a few of words of caution:
- Firstly, be aware that whilst fast, the drivers can play a little fast and loose with the road rules.
- If you choose to travel to the wedding by tuk, please keep in mind that the tuks are open aired and that may effect your perfectly coiffed or curled hair.
- Tuks can be hailed from anywhere, at any place and at anytime, but be please always ask the driver if it is a METERED TAXI and make sure that you see the driver switch on the meter to avoid an argument about price at the end of the journey.
